HAPPY 2008!!!!

Feel the air of 2008, it's been for one hour so far (it's 1:04 am now Florida time) -- it does feel good, I'm still hearing fireworks outside, I bet many people still celebrating, but not me, I am off to bed early tonight, Happy New Year folks!

Goodbye '07!

I'll miss ya 2007...but I am looking more into what 2008 could offer...and so excited for the new year! Got lot of things planned for the '08 that makes me overwhelmed sometimes. I am not a person who likes to jot things down when that ideas pop up but I think I better do that now so I won't miss a thing. Part of my new year's resolution in summary:
1. Office: be more organized & make my office a better place to 'live' in
2. GD Shop: come up with more goodness, cuteness, creative handmade wonders and improve the e-shop branding & look
3. Health: eat less junk food and back to my health routine at least 2-3 times exercise per week
4. Personal time: Make more quality time for me to spend -- work hard but not forgetting to play a little too. Yin & Yang, balance act....I need to get this worked out somehow.

As of for tonight -- the last day of the year, hubby & I will indulge our taste buds at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion restaurant to celebrate then stay home and watch DVD till midnight (kind of our ritual every New Year's Eve)...Happy New Year, best wishes for 2008....

Another Year...Another Birthday...

I used to be so excited when it comes to birthday (cakes, good food, party, friends, lotsa gifts)...especially when waiting to be Sweet 17...*reminisced* but not that much fond of b-day nowadays *grin* I guess when your "number" is getting higher -- you are not ha ha. Anyway, today is my birthday and I will take this very day as a day to introspect and a day to give myself a pat on the back for all the things I've accomplished this year. Often times that I forgot to give myself credit and unintentionally magnify on the missess, the errors and all things I haven't or shouldn't have done...and I know it's not good if I constantly focus on the negatives. So today *fix my hair & my shirt* ....I wanna be good to myself! Well, my mom-in-law celebrated my birthday early on the day (last Sunday exactly) when we visited her for Christmas. She lives in other city so she & I really could not have celebrated my b-day today. While we're there, she got me birthday dinner, cake, gifts and all -- uh-hu, 4 days earlier.
But for my real b-day today, my husband and I will go for a nice sushi dinner...Until my next b-day, I'll be good ^__^

Project Lights {X'mas 2007}

Christmas time is getting near...my hubby, Jeff, has been so busy with his Christmas lights around the house right after Thanksgiving. Not only adorning the house with lights, he's now adding the bright decor to the tree too (photo: see tree at the far left). One time, the squirrel chewed on the tree lights so he got to arranged a whole new set of lights again (I thought squirrel is supposed to be cute {like my squirrel doll *lol*} and not naughty!) Last night, he took some great shots of the house with all the blinking lights with all the merry Christmasy colors. He is so proud of his annual "Project Lights"...our house has become a delightful entertainment for everyone who pass by our house these days....

Travel preparation

Not the best time of years to travel overseas for 2 weeks -- take off from work, the shop & new projects while I am away.....but there's nothing I can do. My brother's wedding in Indonesia is on October 26th and I need to be there! For this purpose, me and hubby, decided to take two weeks off from our job routines -- and have a mini vacation to my home country, Indonesia. The travel time -- well it's only around 26 hours total. Did I hear some gasps?? yeah....I believe some of you would complain of flying for more than 2-3 hours, let alone spending more than a day to fly!! Other thing that makes me upset -- I can't bring my sewing or craft project with me on the plane as they won't let me carry needles or scissors. Darn! If not, I could make tons of dolls, finish some orders or create a new plush design in 26 hours. I really not looking forward to that flight. I am not sure what I am gonna do during the 26 hours. I'm thinking to bring the manual of my new professional camera, so I could learn how to use it better, bring my Tetris game, my IPOD, my sketching book, my laptop, face mist and some of my favorite snacks. It's a good thing that I won't be flying solo -- my hubby is coming with moi! He's so excited to learn some native language (to impress my parents). I'll teach him few basic words and making fun of him at the same time *lol* his Indonesian accent is so funny ... (I am so evil)

Check out my itenerary:
  • We will fly from Ft. Myers on Oct 20th to Atlanta then we continue our flight to Los Angels...k? two changing planes so far.....still following me? ok next..
  • After wait at the L.A. airport for another 6-7 hours, we'll catch our international long-ass (excuse my language) flight to Hong Kong (yeap, no direct flight to Indonesia) so we have to be very patient here..
  • ok for the next 16 hours, we'll have fun on Cathay Pacific Airways...have some "plane food" hopefully not "plain food" tho....enjoy dinner, breakfast and lunch on the air! yay (?)
  • allright, then arrives in Hong Kong, we'll wait for another 4-5 hours in Hong Kong Airport to get to our next flight to Jakarta, Indonesia
  • ..k? still with me....(four planes in total) - -- 5 hours flight from Hong Kong to Jakarta and ya know what.... itll be already Monday, Oct 22 by the time we arrive in Indonesia (yea, we lose one day on the air, so no Sunday for us) -- considering the time difference between U.S. and Asia time zone, U.S time zone is 12 hours behind.
so you could imagine, how tired we feel by the time we get to our destination!!!!
Jetlag would involve 2-3 days... Wish me luck in preparing our luggages -- we have tons of things to bring and now, those things to bring are scatterred around the house, piling up on the table, ohhh...

Spice things up!

Living abroad meaning adjusting yourself to local dishes. Growing up in Indonesia where my "pallette" accustomed to tasty, spicy and hot dishes -- my culinary experience in Florida where I live now hasn't been enjoyable at all. The food here is a bit too plain for my taste. Therefore, I always carry with me a mini jar of chili powder in my purse everytime we go eat out in any restaurant (shame on me...I know). I just need the taste to be kicked up a notch (as Emeril would scream out loud).

Now that all chili powder I bought from home in Indonesia has gone and I haven't got a chance to go back home to stock more (and I can't find it either in local oriental market here in Florida), I have to come up with other alternative. So then, my darling thoughtful hubby found the way. He grew (yes he literally starts the process from scratch) chili peppers trees (include cayenne, jalapeno, habanero) in our mini garden, then when time comes for us to harvest the chilis, we dry the chili using our handy dandy electric fryer and grind them with our handy dandy spice mixer and ta-da...voila I have a jar full of chili powder that is so HOT could last for a long time... :))

Girl friends' hang out

Fun pictures from my Orlando trip with Claire my BFF...I forgot my camera, so not many pics we took but these ones. We ate at one of, so called, one of the most talked about sushi restos in Orlando, Sushiology. The food is good but too bad we didn't get any vacant table to sit..o man! We didn't realize that this restaurant is not really a sushi resto...it's kind of a to go pick up place for sushi! So we gotta eat the sushi standin' up ho ho....but we were so hungry at the time so what the heck..let's dig in. 20 minutes later, we got one table that have made us ordered more sushi and in between we took these pics. Lovely time....we started the trip to Orlando at 10 am (it's approx. 1 hour away from Tampa where we live) and we managed to get back home by midnight...watta day! Do a 'lil bit of shoppin', drivin', eatin', talkin'....a nice break for both us!

Chistmas is officially over

We took down the Christmas tree this morning....so until next year! I know some people would keep their tree up at least until the new year and I heard over the radio last week, one girl keeps her tree up until Valentine's day (wow!). Well, we built our tree right after Thanksgiving so I think we have enough of it. Also, since we both are not occupied yet with other chores, so we think we'd better cleaning up and store the tree in the attic NOW (while we have the time). However, we still keep the holiday lights infront of the house till the new year ... hubby, Jeff who is so multi-talented (lucky wife I am) built those gorgeous lights which has become an attraction to our neighbours and friends. Our house is practically the best-dressed and the brightest house in the hood for the holiday!

Tonight we'll go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse; a pretty fancy place to eat steak...so Jeff wants to indulge my taste bud for a nice dinner for the New Year's Eve...it'd be so gooooddd! After that, we'll watch some DVDs at home and wait till the new year rings in. Happy New Year to all of you...hope 2007 will bring us happiness, prosperity and all that jazzzzzz...
