Spice things up!

Living abroad meaning adjusting yourself to local dishes. Growing up in Indonesia where my "pallette" accustomed to tasty, spicy and hot dishes -- my culinary experience in Florida where I live now hasn't been enjoyable at all. The food here is a bit too plain for my taste. Therefore, I always carry with me a mini jar of chili powder in my purse everytime we go eat out in any restaurant (shame on me...I know). I just need the taste to be kicked up a notch (as Emeril would scream out loud).

Now that all chili powder I bought from home in Indonesia has gone and I haven't got a chance to go back home to stock more (and I can't find it either in local oriental market here in Florida), I have to come up with other alternative. So then, my darling thoughtful hubby found the way. He grew (yes he literally starts the process from scratch) chili peppers trees (include cayenne, jalapeno, habanero) in our mini garden, then when time comes for us to harvest the chilis, we dry the chili using our handy dandy electric fryer and grind them with our handy dandy spice mixer and ta-da...voila I have a jar full of chili powder that is so HOT could last for a long time... :))

Unique Party Favors for the birthday girl..

I had so much fun creating these unique party favors for a special birthday of Emily's (my youngest & prettiest customers who will turn 10 next month...yay!) Colorful cute little critters of her choice which will be a "thank you keepsake" for her friends. She particularly loves the turtles, butterflies & the chimps. I am sure her friends will be so pleasantly surprise with these sweet goodies! Happy Birthday Em...!!

Stuff I am workin' on...

Just finished the last orders of the week and pack them for shipping...all these little critters are happy to find new homes...hoping to find great new friends :)
I've been working on my baby mobile project this morning...and I still have a hard time figuring out the perfect way to hang this lullaby mobile correctly. I've got so many request from my friends and customers to come up with baby mobile creation. I tend to procastinate the project, so I haven't really design one for the shop yet. Well, so far I am pretty happy with the basic idea of how I want my baby mobile to be -- to kinda make a merry-go-round theme mobile with fun animals; adorned with overlapping felt scallops around. I use a gold metal ring as the base holder and hand-sewn all felt scallops to it. Now I am stuck of how to make this merry-go-round mobile to be hung steadily. Better go back to work now...

Welcome July...

So many things I have in store for July -- more custom orders to complete, my corporate computer training classes to attend, my Green Card application to file (I have my temporary Green Card which I have to extend to obtain my permanent residency), my fitness exercise 3x a week to commit, and yeah...travel to my home-country (to Indonesia) to plan..... yipppiee!!...a lot of exciting things to fulfill this month.

Well, I went to see my personal trainer last week and she asked me to be seriously committed this time to at least do my fitness exercise twice a week. I've gained 8 pounds for these past months and I am not comfortable with my weight. Well, it's not only about the numbers, but more about my overall well-being. I have to be fit to be able to work productively everyday. Stop the habit of sleeping late, eating irregularly, no exercise ~ before I get myself into deeper trouble.

My travel plan to Indonesia is to attend my brother's wedding in October. Therefore, I am looking forward to complete my Green Card application so I can travel out of the country without any hassel. I am so excited to go back home. It's been awhile since the last time I was home (3 years ago). I miss my family, my girlfriends and good Indonesian food (spiceeey). Until then, I am going back to finish my little animal friends....I just completed these sweet adorable racoons, bunnies and tigers....see how much I've accomplished from the photo I posted the last time. Now it's time for packaging...(I love this fun part!)
